The Preacher Problem

(Mat 7:1 ESV)
“Judge not, that you be not judged.

I was watching MSNBC this morning and they where talking about Barack Obama and his latest preacher problem and then they rolled the YouTube clip of Reverend X letting his words flow freely.

(Pro 15:1 ESV)
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

(Pro 15:2 ESV)
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly.

Watching the clip brought a couple of things to mind. One, that we as ministers can’t allow ourselves to be reduced into becoming “spiritual entertainers” and number two I believe it’s vitally important that before we issue harsh words about somebody else we better have the the green light from the Holy Ghost to do so. Just  because you feel something is true does not mean your suppose to say it from behind Gods Holy Desk while the whole world is watching and listening.

Before you could say something stupid from behind the pulpit and only the audience in attendance was contaminated with it, now let one slip and the clip is on YouTube before the service is over.
