This was a life changing message for me because I think I needed to hear more than anyone else.
In the ministry it’s so easy to get busy and forget to do the most important thing in a preachers life, which is to spend quality time with God.
Here is the message.
The sermon notes are here.
One year ago today I was sitting in a baby delivery room waiting for my fifth child to enter this world.
But he was facing the wrong way in my wife’s womb and wasn’t able to come out. My wife was in a lot of pain and I could hear his heart rate on the monitor going down. They said if he didn’t come out really soon they would have to do C section.
I was sitting there right next to the bed and I just felt so helpless. I tried get quiet and hear from God, but my mind deserted me…I was in shock.
The woman I loved was a few feet away from me screaming in pain and I could hear my sons hear heart rate getting slower and slower.
I just put my head in my hands and prayed softly in the spirit. That’s all I could think of to do.
So I prayed and prayed, until I hit a gusher…the joy of the Lord filled my heart. I got up, walked into the bathroom and dance like a mad man. Then I calmly walked back out and sat down in my chair.
Everyone but one nurse had left the room and it looked like that they were getting ready to do the C section. My wife suggested to the nurse that she try and push just one more time.
So she did and Robert James Mancha started to come forth in a mighty way. The nurse screamed for me to go get help, so I got up and ran out to the nurses station to get help.
James is my grace baby. I was in the best place of my life spiritually when he was born and I think his calm demeanor reflects that fact.
This morning when he walked into my office I just picked him up and thanked God for him one more time.
Happy birthday Robert James, your daddy danced on the day you were born.
Sundays service was outstanding. We had a homeless gentleman come in a little while before service began and I could tell a big part of the reason he wanted to come in was to get out of the cold. He let me know before the service started that he may not stay the whole time and that I shouldn’t be offended. But he stayed and actually helped me preached…I sensed that he was listening and pulling on the anointing.
Here is the message along with my sermon notes…
Psalms 91 (Amplified Bible)
1HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].
2I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
3For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
4[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
5You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,
6Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.
7A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
8Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.
9Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,
10There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.
11For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
12They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.
14Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness–trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.
Smith Wigglesworth said that “I see a place in God where Satan dare not come. Hidden in God. And He invites us all to come and share this wonderful hidden place where our lives are hid with Christ in God, where we dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty. God has this place for you in this blessed realm of grace.”
Heard this one in my spirit this morning when I woke up…
There is something about her voice…
