What Is The Measure Of Success?

Psalm 127:1 (King James Version)

Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

To me, success is doing what God told you to by the power of the Word and Spirit.

Faith begins where the will of God is known and success starts by finding out the will of God for your life and ministry, then doing it by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 (New Living Translation)

10 Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.

12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

If I judge my success by the number of people that attend “my” Church then I’ve stopped walking by faith and have started to let my life and actions be governed by my natural senses. Ministry is (supposed to be) a supernatural endeavor and can only be done by faith.

I’m not the judge of my success, Jesus is. Do my results measure up to His instructions?

The seal of approval on your ministry is not crowds, fame or money. If the Holy Ghost is not attending your services you are a failure and all of your efforts are vain labor.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (New Living Translation)

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

When we moved into our new building the money issue was starting to press in on me. The Lord told me to do something, but I was paying more attention to our bank account than the will of the Lord. So I’m walking around the church building, He supernaturally blessed us with, worrying about money. In mid-worry, the Spirit of God spoke up on the inside of me and said “I’m the one who pays the bills around here”.

With the one word from the Lord I came back to my spiritual senses and just did what God told me to. When I did, the money showed up to get the job done.

Keep It Simple

Psalm 127:1 (Amplified Bible)

EXCEPT THE Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.

When the Lord put it on my heart to start the Church a year ago one of the things I thought that made the task almost impossible was the lack of everything necessary to start a Church. I didn’t have a lot of money, help or much of anything else.

So what the Lord instructed me to do was to just keep it simple. For months the whole ministry fit in a small duffel bag.

The audio department was a small digital recorder that fit in my shirt pocket.

Our sound system was a couple of usb speakers hooked up to a Macbook Pro.

We rented space at a community center in San Francisco and it took me about 15 minutes to set everything up.

I really had to disengage from the professional preacher bloggers and hear from the Holy Ghost for myself what He wanted me to do.

Now a little over a year later we have a building and stuff, but it all started by following a few simple steps.

The key to success in the ministry is getting Gods plan/pattern for your ministry directly from God not man. The plan for your ministry can’t be found in some mans book or conference. And the measure for success in ministry is not attendance but did you do what God called you to do.

Protecting Your Faith Garden

Mark 4:26: ¶And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
Mark 4:27: And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
Mark 4:28: For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
Mark 4:29: But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

I’ve been doing a series on Friday night called the laws that govern receiving from God. And last Friday the Holy Ghost had me minister on how a lot of people don’t receive from God because they don’t protect the Word that has been sown into their hearts.

The key points that came out in the message (at least for me) is that if you prepare you heart to receive the Word and protect your heart from ungodly influences you’ll (or rather the Word will) produce results every time. The Word of God sown into your recreated human spirit has the power to bring itself to pass.

Overwhelmed By Grace…

Romans 5:17 (Amplified Bible)

For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Started a new series last Sunday on the grace of God. The revelation of the grace of God changed my life…I always knew I was called to be a Pastor, but I never could see how God could use somebody like me.

For years I hid in the church faithfully performing my assigned tasks. I was the assistant Pastor, usher, praise team leader, sound man, janitor…but I always knew I was out of the will of God.

It was the revelation of His grace that set me free to be who he created me to be. I found out that in His grace is the power, might and ability to do anything He called me to do.

Living In The Secret Place

Psalms 91 (Amplified Bible)

1HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].
2I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
3For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
4[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
5You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,
6Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.
7A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
8Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.
9Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,
10There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.
11For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
12They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.
14Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness–trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.

Smith Wigglesworth said that “I see a place in God where Satan dare not come. Hidden in God. And He invites us all to come and share this wonderful hidden place where our lives are hid with Christ in God, where we dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty. God has this place for you in this blessed realm of grace.”

Ms. Linda In Da House…

A good friend of the ministry Linda Holmes who is currently attending Rhema Bible Training Center was in town this week on Christmas vacation and I asked her to share her testimony.

She did an outstanding job in sharing about what can happen to you when you come to know the Lord personally and surrender your life to Him.
